LITHUANIA 2007

Lithuania, Easter 2007

I spent Easter of 2007 with the Žimkiene family at their home in Lithuania, a small country geographically, but of huge significance to Europe, not least for being the first of the former Soviet states to declare independence from the Russians in 1990.

Ploškine - a former Soviet nuclear missile base, built in 1962

Hill of Crosses - a site of religious devotion with a lengthy history

Klaipeda and Palanga - stylish seaside living

Traditional Lithuania - celebrating Easter

Telšiai - around town
